Went on an epic and wonderful road trip with two girlfriends of mine from Los Angeles to Marfa and back. We had so many misfortunes along the way, but it all added up to one of the best times of my life. This trip took us through Joshua Tree, Phoenix, Taliesin West, Tucson, Bisbee, White Sands, El Paso, and Marfa. The highlight was definitely White Sands with its lunar landscapes, shady motel, surprisingly excellent healthy breakfast accompanied by live jazz improv on cello, wild parties and karaoke, and heavily-armed prankster border patrol agents who told us we were crossing the Mexico border when in fact we were simply entering New Mexico (but we didn’t know better because we had had no cell connection for several hours) – all that at the heart of a military base.

We also locked ourselves out of our hotel room in Marfa while drinking beer by the pool, which brought us to meet Tito of Tito’s Vodka, who kindly helped us break back into our hotel room, unfortunately without success. This led us all to share Tito’s Vodka in the parking lot with lime freshly squeezed into our mouths. Or that time we were stuck at yet another border patrol for an hour and witnessed quite a spectacular drug smuggler’s arrest. And on and on…
