MARFA 2014

STAY ($$)
Hotel Thunderbird – cool stylish hotel with pool
El Cosmico – tipies and airstreams

EAT & DRINK ($–$$)
Squeeze – cute coffee & lunch spot
Frama – nice coffee and lunch spot
Tumbleweed – just weird
Lost Horse Saloon
Taco truck – near the train tracks & post office on Highland open one day a week (can't remember which one though), good tacos

DO ($–$$)
Judd foundation – make sure to see the house and library, as well as the studio; I also recommend seeing everything else really, i.e. the architecture office and studio, the Cobb house, and Whyte building for diving deeper into Judd's world.
Chinati Foundation – stunning collection, I recommend the guided tour as the guides are very knowledgeable
John Chamberlain/Chinati Foundation – different location than the main one, a must-see
Marfa Book Company – really nice bookstore that also showcases artists and designers
Ayn Foundation
Mystery Lights – for a bit of folklore
Prada shop – not of great interest, but worth being seen as a cultural phenomenon
County Court House – walk all the way up in the tower of the nice view of the town and the region, don't ask anyone, just walk up
Ballroom Marfa
Marfa Contemporary
Numerous galleries of lesser interest
Balmorhea State Park
Big Bend National Park
Chihuahuan Desert Research Center Institute
McDonald Observatory
Second hand store – very old thrift store on Highland, can't remember the name though, its between San Antonio and the County Court House on your left hand side when you face the court house.
