Sequoia National Park is such a magical place. We visited the park during winter and it is quite special to hike there at this time of the year. The night skies are without equal; the air is crisp and perfumed. It definitely is a highlight of road tripping throughout California and the perfect escapade for a long weekend. We wanted to stay within walking distance or short drives from hiking trails, so we opted for the Wuksachi Lodge located in the heart of the park. We were not disappointed. The lodge and the staff were great. Without frills and affordable, the rooms were comfortable with unparalleled location. We packed a lot of food and made lunches for our day hikes. I highly recommend staying there and purchasing the annual pass for all National Parks in the U.S. If taveling in the winter, pack layers – it gets pretty chilly up there.
